![]() No matter what I do, I can't seem to get PhpStorm to play nicely with git. However, if I call git status from the terminal, the changed files are listed, and I can add, commit, and push them just fine. Under the "Changes" tab at the bottom, under "local" no files are listed. If I do "Git > Commit File" a dialog box pops up and says "no changes detected". If I change a file in my project (the file is shown in blue now) and I right click and select "Git > Add" nothing happens. Under "Version Control > Git", the git interaction is properly configured and tested as working. Under "Version Control > GitHub" my connection is configured and tested as working properly. Refactoring: Here it's worth mentioning that the built in PHP support in VSCode is second-class to Intelephense. I still prefer GitKraken for third-party integrations but barring those, I stick with Git Lens. This means an update will only be performed if the submodule reference. GIT: A few classes beyond what PHPStorm can do, the Git Lens plugin rivals most dedicated Git tools. PhpStorm will call git submodule update, which will check out the commit referenced in the root repository. Both "github" and "git integration" plugins are enabled in the "Preferences -> Plugins" menu. PhpStorm will pull changes from the remote branch and will rebase or merge them into the local branch depending on which update method is selected in Settings. To view the list of file types recognized by PhpStorm and their icons, in the Settings dialog ( Ctrl Alt 0S ), go to Editor File Types. In the Project tool window ( View Tool Windows Project), these icons help you quickly identify with what kind of files you are working with. git/config file lists a remote "origin" at github. Each file format in PhpStorm has a dedicated icon. I can call git status from the terminal and it lists several files that have been changed and are not staged for a commit yet. I have a project that I've clone from GitHub. Select Version Control in the left hand pane. Since we dont want the root under VCS but one of the subfolders, we can: Open Preferences. If there is no such function, setting .hintstrue may help. As of 2022.2 versions, some JetBrains' IDEs have integrated this feature: Settings/Preferences -> Editor -> Inlay Hints ::> Code Vision ::> Code author. ![]() ![]() Select Git as the VCS for the project root. Inline blame exact to GitLens is most probably not available as of now for WebStorm. I'm using PhpStorm 2017.3.2 (evaluating it) on OSX. Select VCS -> Enable Version Control Integration. Problem: "Git > Add" doesn't seem to do anything, and "Git > Commit File" says "No changes detected", when git from the command line sees changes and can commit/push files. ![]()
